You can’t start this new year, a new chapter in your life if you are stuck in the old one. If you want to create a new self, or a new destiny, you first look at what it is you need to change about yourself.
Maybe you only have a few habits that don’t serve you and you would like to change.
If you are ready for a change – allow me to be your example. I hope I am your inspiration. Because if I can do it – so can you.
Typically, in a new year I would gather a list of new affirmations to recite. Do you use affirmations? I’ve encouraged clients to recite affirmations for years. What I realized this past year is that what I think in my head must also be felt in my heart. Just reciting positive affirmations doesn’t make it happen.
Step 1 – Visualize with Clarity.
You are what you are, where you are, and who you are because of what you believe about yourself. Get crystal clear on what you want – whether it’s better health, stronger relationships, or career success. Picture it as if it’s already yours. Engage all your senses and feel the emotions that come with achieving it. Truly believe you have achieved it.
I’m going to use a common New Year’s resolution of giving up smoking. This is a powerful example of how you think. Someone offers a cigarette to two ladies who are going to stop smoking in the new year. One lady says, “No thank you, I’m trying to quit.” The other lady says, “No thank you, I don’t smoke.” Do you see the difference in how they think? One already believes herself to not be a smoker. What you think will determine who you become.
Step 2 – Align Your Actions and Energy.
What do you need to do to be aware of what you are thinking, so you can start to let go of what doesn’t serve you? Does it require removing things from your home such as sugar, alcohol, or cigarettes. Does it require you to take a course to help you do what it is you want to accomplish?
Take inspired action. Align your daily habits, mindset, and decisions with the vision you’ve created. Small steps lead to big shifts.
Step 3 – Let Go and Trust the Process.
Step 1 and Step 2 require a lot of awareness. Your thoughts shape your destiny, so it requires you to pay attention to them. You will have to think and act in new ways. Once you do you will BE the new you in 2025.
Release doubt and trust that what you desire is on its way. Gratitude and patience are powerful amplifiers. Focus on the present moment and keep your energy aligned with positivity and confidence.
Here is a simple example. Think about when you first started driving a car. You had to really think about the gas, brake, turn signals and where you were going. You had to THINK about it really hard. The more you drove your car – DOING IT – the easier it became. Now you can drive from your home to the grocery, and not even remember doing it. It is so engrained in you, there is no need to think about it.
You can Think, Do and Be whatever you want to in 2025
